Handmade Korean Dang-Pipa 5 Stringed instrument Mounted for Hanging.
The dang-bipa is a stringed instrument with 12 frets and modern versions have a range of more than 3 octaves. The Chinese character dang refers to China, thus indicating that the dang-bipa is a native Chinese instrument. The instrument was introduced into Korea during the Shilla Dynasty when there was a good deal of trade between Korea's Shilla and China's Dang dynasties
The instrument measures approx 10” long and the mount it is on is approx 12” x 4” x .5”
Some paint wear to the edges of wood lower part of instrument. One chip on edge of mount material. Brass tailpiece and brass hanger.
