Man hospitalized after fight at Destiny USA in Syracuse, police say

Syracuse, N.Y. — A man was hospitalized after being cut during a fight at the Destiny USA Mall in Syracuse Saturday morning, police said.
At 12:38 a.m. a 911 caller reported someone had been stabbed near the Cheesecake Factory entrance at 9090 Destiny USA Dr., police said in a news release.
As officers were on the way Destiny USA security reported a large amount of people gathered at the mall, according to dispatches from the Onondaga County 911 Center.
Officers found a 42-year-old man in the Gold parking lot with cuts to his back, police said.
The man told police he was breaking up a fight in the parking lot when he felt pain in his back and discovered he had gotten cut, police said.
The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital by ambulance and has non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The stabbing happened just hours after the mall lost power due to a switch gear failing. The switch gear allows circuits to be turned on and off inside the mall’s breakers, a National Grid spokesperson said.
Police ask anyone with information about the fight to call them at 315-442-5222.
